Don’t Buy This… You Will Definitely be Disappointed

1. The web page for this says, “GunVault Bio uses biometrics, specifically fingerprint recognition, to access the safe contents.” But this model doesn’t use biometrics… another model does!
2. I agree with everything B. Ripley says… in fact, the buttons are so unsensitive/weirdly sensitive that it’s impossible to program the damn thing because I can’t enter the same thing twice (it thinks)!
3. You have to keep it unmuted because the buttons are so bad
4. there’s no drilled holes in the bottom to use to attach it to something, which means that someone can just walk off with it… unless of course you use the joke-of-a-security cable they give you, which you could probably cut with a nail clipper
Thank goodness I got this at Amazon so I can return it.
For quick but safe access. . .

I purchased this because it was a decent pice and I was not concerned about the batteries failing or not being able to open it under pressure etc. It arrived 3 days ago and I am a little skeptical about the reliability of the locking mechanism. For something that is going to be holding a loaded weapon I would expect it to be more secure. For the near future I feel this will keep little hands away from our self defense gun but I will probably invest in something different when my kids get older. My fear is that a 12 year old with a screwdriver could get this open pretty fast. Mine are under a year so I am ok with the product as is for now. AGAIN, the latching mechanism does not seem as well built as the rest of the box. Maybe someone can post a youtube video of someone trying to break into it with a screwdriver and prove its strength but I doubt it would hold up?!?
I think the box is made very well in all other aspects. I don’t have a problem opening the box in the dark and the buttons seem fine as long as you press firmly. The comments about the buttons being sketchy seem a little too picky in my opinion.

Fine for small guns, and keeps little fingers away. fits perfectly in drawer or under bed.
Great for carrying a weapon or valuables in your vehicle
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great little gun “safe.” It is pretty well constructed. It is a great choice for carrying a weapon or valuables in your vehicle. I fit my Springfield XD 40 and two magazines in it with no problems. The included security cable is long enough to attach it to most places under a seat or center arm rest/console. It definately won’t replace an actual weapon safe as a real theif would have it open in no time, but it will definately deter the average smash and grab theft. The only negative thing I have noticed is that it sometimes won’t recognize that you press two buttons at once. You have to push them both really hard in order for it to recognize it. This could be a problem if you use a combination with multiple button presses and need into it in a hurry. Overall, I think this is a great product and have already recommended this product to my friends and family.
On a side note, I think this product would also be great for travelling abroad. It is small enough that you could carry it in your suitcase and have a great way to secure your valuables and or passport/documentation in your hotel room while you’re at the beach or somewhere else and don’t want to carry everything with you.

A solid product overall. However, sometimes after entering the code to open the unit I hear the motor open the lock but the lid doesn’t pop open. Usually on the second try it opens correctly. Not a big deal to me but for those that will use this box in their nightstand for instant access it could be an issue – especially operating it under stress.
Third defective one, waiting on my fourth replacement
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I own two of the “mini” line of gunvaults, and have had good service from them. The Deluxe model failed after 3 years in service, but they are sending a replacement.
Now, for the “micro” vault, this thing has been nothing but failure. The orginal one quit functioning after a few weeks. Gunvault sent a replacement, that one lasted for two weeks, sent it back, the replacement they sent the 2nd time never did work. After two calls with tech support, they are sending a replacement for the “mini” vault that failed and they are currently backordered on the “micros” tell sometime in march. Hopefully the fourth one will be a charm.
Customer service is good, the buttons in the “micro” series are mushy and unreliable. These things have so far been 100 dollar thin sheetmetal boxes that require a key. If I always wanted to use the key, i’d buy one of the $20 dollar ones.

Gunvault Review

Very Satisfied with the product. There is a little gap between the top and bottom piece of the safe when you close it that was a little disappointing but I did not buy it to keep out a professional thief. My purpose was to keep curious hands away from the pistol, especially children. It allows me to have quick access to my pistol without worrying about those curious hands getting to it. Great for traveling.
Was as described

Since I ordered it close to christmas, and was not expecting it before 25 Dec, shipping took longer. Product was as described. Some reviews stated it was flimsy?!?? I do not think so. Had no problem putting batteries in, setting up code, and testing it a couple dozen times. You just have to read the manual!!!!!! Have 4 and 6 yr old boys and wanted to keep gun close, but locked up. This is in my nightstand with my small hand held 75 lume flashlight. It holds my 40 cal and 3 extra magazines. You need to practice opening it up and getting the gun out. Do not want any surprises when you really need it to count / work.
Defective product, worse customer service

One day after I got this, two of the buttons stopped working, forcing me to rely solely on the key to open the safe. When I tried calling Tech/Customer Support, I rarely ever got through to a person, usually I got a recording telling me to call during normal business hours, even though that was exactly what I was doing! I left a message to call me during the morning because I work at night, and…you guessed it. Tech support called me in the evening during work! I had to ask Tech support to call me back the next day in the morning and they never did. I am trying to return this for a refund, but my attempts at correspondences have gone unanswered.
